About the NDIS
The NDIS, or National Disability Insurance Scheme, is an initiative for Australians dealing with permanent and significant disabilities. This scheme not only helps the participants facing challenges but also supports their families and caretakers in looking after them better. If you are an eligible participant, they tailor a funding package designed just for you. You can use it to get disability support in Sunshine as well that help you reach your short and long-term goals, helping you live as independent as possible. The authority that looks into the implementation and functioning of NDIS is the NDIA (National Disability Insurance Agency), funded by the Australian government.
The eligibility criteria to become an NDIS participant are as follows:
Age: This is the most essential and basic support a person with a disability may require. It may involve assistance for personal care, household chores, or any other daily activity.
Residence: You must fall under any one of the following:
- Australian Citizen
- Permanent Resident
- Protected Special Category Visa
Apart from the above, you must also be staying in Australia to benefit from the NDIS plan.
Disability: You are eligible if your disability falls under the category of intellectual, cognitive, neurological, sensory, physical, or psychosocial impairment and it affects your daily life.
